Adoption from Foster Care
Adopting a child or teen from foster care can be a daunting idea, and potential parents are vulnerable and can have a lot of doubts. In order to encourage the adoption of youth from foster care, the Adoption from Foster Care campaign has taken a humorous approach in order to reassure potential adoptive parents that “you don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent.” Since the campaign’s launch in 2004, Ad Council, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, AdoptUSKids, and creative agency KBS have helped to place almost 25,000 children with permanent adoptive families.
However, there is still work to do. There are currently 112,000 children and teens in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted. The newest television and radio PSAs, launched in late 2016, highlight the need to find loving and stable families for youth in foster care.
