October is a month of many social causes including domestic violence awareness, bullying prevention, and learning and attention issues awareness. But social media was buzzing on October 11th for International Day of the Girl Child. Declared in 2011 by the United Nations General Assembly to “recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world,” the UN calls the day “an investment in realizing the power of adolescent girls.”
This year’s theme was Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: What Counts for Girls, and many celebrities including the First Lady Michelle Obama, and Olympic track runner Natasha Hastings took to social media to show their support.
In honor of an incredible day and an important cause, here are a few commercials that are packed with girl power and are sure to lift your spirits.
