Today is Earth Day – April 22 – which marks the 46th anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Since the creation of Earth Day, millions of people have found unique ways to celebrate our planet; from planting community gardens, to children’s nature walks, to pledging to reinvigorate the recycling effort –we all use this holiday to remind ourselves to give a little more love to our environment.
Here at the Ad Council, we take celebrating our planet seriously. We recently launched a brand new Food Waste Prevention campaign, #SaveTheFood, and a new creator video from SunKissAlba for our Recycling campaign. We also love our Discover the Forest campaign, which challenges families to find a forest or park near them and explore the outdoors.

Typically I get most excited about the wild new seasonal flavors at this enormous coffee chain… but on this Earth Day, I’m so happy that Starbucks will start donating 100% of its unused food to those in need.
Clothing brands are increasingly becoming heavy hitters in the environmental responsibility space as well. From April 18 to 24, the Millennial-beloved fashion brand will give shoppers a 30 percent discount in exchange for their old garments, promoting recycling. You’ve got 2 days left to donate!
Apple is celebrating Earth Day 2016 with a new upbeat YouTube video highlighting its green initiatives. The new video depicts how Apple’s Data centers are powered by 100% renewable energy. Use the Heart symbol on IMessage to show your love for our planet (and see if you can guess the background song)!
