Going to SXSW this year? We’d love to meet up! The Ad Council will return to Austin this March to present a total of four panels and one workshop at SXSW Interactive 2015. If you’re also Austin-bound: join us!
March 14th | 11am – 12pm | JW Marriott, Salon 7
With a growing millennials consumer base and an increasing desire to reach audiences beyond TV screens and magazine pages, brands and advertisers are using the “new” celebrity on social media. In this panel, industry experts from the Ad Council, Niche, Maker Studios and Charity: Water will discuss this trend of this new kind of celebrity, and discuss best practices on how brands can implement this successfully.
March 15th | 11am – 1:30pm | JW Marriott, Salon F
In this workshop, led by Jack Morton Worldwide, we will explore how to shift content development from being based on editorial whims to three new models: consumer-driven, data-driven and conversation-led models. Participants will put their new skills to the test, with a competitive content hackathon. A winning team will be selected and their ideas will be implemented by the Shelter Pet Project.
PLEASE NOTE: This session requires advance signup to attend. Email [email protected] if you wish to be put on a notification list to stay informed on when signup begins.
March 15th | 5pm – 6pm | Long Center, AT&T Education Room
There is a growing community of educators, nonprofits and developers who believe that in addition to entertainment value, games can also be used for good; they can educate, they can change perceptions and they can heal. Hear from industry experts from the Ad Council, HopeLab, The University of Texas Center for Identity and Green Door Labs Inc discuss gaming for good best practices and how to do more with a small budget.
March 16th | 5pm – 6pm | Hyatt Regency Austin
Emotional content is growing stronger as a teary trend in the advertising landscape. We’re moved, but do we act? And what’s fueling this trend? Why is more value being placed on true story content that promises a good cry? Hear from brands and advertisers from the Ad Council, Proctor & Gamble, Pereira & O’Dell and Fast Company discuss the role that social sharing and technology play while maybe—just maybe—shedding a tear or two.
March 17th | 12:30pm – 1:30pm | Austin Convention Center, Next Stage
Does the use of art, music or film make for a more impactful, influential message? How are music and art being used to move the needle on social issues? At what point does star power/artistic presence add or take away from a campaign? Hear from industry leaders from iHeartMedia, the Ad Council, Viacom and Live Nation who have successfully used art and music to drive social impact.
